History of PROS Conservation Easements

History:

2004:      Seventeen families form the Cerrito Amarillo River Canyon Trust (CARCT), purchase a 32-acre tract of land and place it under conservation easement with Santa Fe Conservation Trust.

2005:      Five families purchase a 16-acre tract of river land, long used for by the surrounding community, and preserve it with a conservation easement.

2008:      Pecos River Open Spaces Inc. (PROS) receives its 501(c)(3) designation.  Geniveve Coonly places her 60 acres under conservation easement with the Santa Fe Conservation Trust and donates it to PROS.

2009:      Local families purchase another 16-acre tract, place it under conservation easement and donate it to PROS.

2020:     CARCT, by unanimous vote donates their 32-acre tract to PROS.  This transfer is now in progress.
